Seminar on Principles and Standards of Research Ethics Held for Quchan University of Technology Faculty Members
According to the Public Relations Office of Quchan University of Technology, a seminar and faculty symposium titled “Principles and Standards of Research Ethics in Universities” was held on Thursday, Khordad 28, 1405, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (six hours). This program was organized through the efforts of the Research Management Division in collaboration with the University’s Leadership Office (Nahad-e Rahbari), and it hosted a group of the university’s faculty members at the Leadership Office conference hall at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
The seminar was led by Dr. Ali-Akbar Akbari, a faculty member of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Director of the Intellectual Property Group, and a member of the Research Ethics Working Group at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. During the session, discussions were held regarding intellectual property (IP) rights, relevant laws and regulations, professional ethics within the scientific community, and specific instances of research misconduct as defined by law. The presentations included practical case studies, analysis of misconduct instances, and strategies for preventing research errors.
The symposium aimed to increase faculty awareness regarding the legal frameworks of intellectual property, strengthen the culture of research ethics, and reduce instances of misconduct in research activities. Upon the conclusion of the seminar, participants were briefed on patent registration procedures, proper citation methods, the responsibilities of researchers in publishing results, and mechanisms for reporting misconduct. They also exchanged views on ways to enhance transparency and accountability in research projects. In closing, the organizers emphasized the necessity of continuous training in research ethics and intellectual property, announcing that supplementary courses and practical workshops to enhance researchers’ applied skills are currently being planned by the Research Management Division.
